Program Introduction
This program is open to international students worldwide who are passionate about Chinese language and culture. It covers Grammar, Listening and Speaking, Reading and Writing, Intercultural Communication taught by experienced instructors. It offers tailored courses in small classes at five different levels ranging from beginner to advanced level.

Class Time
Time: 8:50AM-12:05PM,Monday to Friday
Class hour: 12 class hours per week (core courses); 4~7class hours per week (elective courses)
* 1 class hour = 45 minutes
Course Overview
1. Beginner Class
Teaching Weeks: 16 weeks
Target Students: Beginners with zero Chinese foundation. After 16 weeks of study, students can conduct simple and effective communication in Chinese on familiar daily topics.
Target Level: HSK1-3
Core Courses: Elementary Grammar I, Elementary Listening and Speaking I
Elective Courses: HSK 1-3 Intensive Courses, ChineseCharacters, Chinese Culture Lecture Series
Teaching Weeks: 16 weeks
Target Students: Learners who have mastered basic Chinese sentence patterns and more than 600 common words, with initial communicative abilities in Chinese. After 16 weeks of study, students can complete basic communicative tasks in life and study.
Target Level: HSK3-4
Core Courses: Elementary Grammar II, Elementary Listening and Speaking II, Elementary Reading and Writing II
Elective Courses: HSK3-4 Intensive Courses, ChineseCharacters, Chinese Culture Lecture Series
3. Intermediate Class
Teaching Weeks: 16 weeks
Target Students: Learners who have mastered basic Chinese grammar and more than 1200 common words, with foundational communicative abilities in Chinese. After 16 weeks of study, students can discuss topics in a broader range of fields.
Target Level: HSK4-5
Core Courses: Intermediate Grammar I, Intermediate Listening and Speaking I, Intermediate Reading and Writing I
Elective Courses: HSK4-5 Intensive Courses, ChineseCharacters, Chinese Culture Lecture Series
4. Upper-Intermediate Class
Teaching Weeks: 16 weeks
Target Students: Learners who have mastered intermediate Chinese grammar and more than 2500 common words, capable of fluent communication in Chinese, and can accurately understand written and oral information, and express their opinions in both written and oral forms.
Target Level: HSK5-6
Core Courses: Intermediate Grammar II, Intermediate Listening and Speaking II, Intermediate Reading and Writing II, Intercultural Communication
Elective Courses: HSK5-6 Intensive Courses, ChineseCharacters, Chinese Culture Lecture Series
5. Advanced Class
Teaching Weeks: 16 weeks
Target Students: Learners who have mastered intermediate and lower-level Chinese grammar and have learned 3500-4000 common words, can understand general language materials related to social life, and can express narratives, explanations, and arguments.
Target Level: HSK6-7
Core Courses: Advanced Grammar I, Advanced Listening and Speaking I, Advanced Reading and Writing I

*Note:The Chinese Language Program offers year-round enrollment.Applicants requiring an extension beyond the deadline due to exceptional circumstances must contact the admissions office at hyzs@jiangnan.edu.cn to ascertain eligibility for late submission.Students with a foundation in Chinese may be able to join classes mid-semester.
Eligibility:
1. Non-Chinese citizens in good health, in compliance with Chinese rules and laws and University regulations, with understanding of and respect for Chinese customs and China as a whole
2. Aged between 18 and 60 (A formal letter of authorization from parents is needed from applicants under 18 whose parents are not permanent residents in China.)

1.A Color Scanned Copy of Passport (Photo Page, Visa Page if applicable)
2.A Color ID Photo Valid within 6 Months (JPG. JPEG. No Bigger than 1M)
3.A Color Scanned Copy of the Highest Academic Degree (or A Corresponding Notarized Letter in Chinese or English)
4.Financial Support Certification
5.Official bank statement (transaction history from the past 6 months, showing a balance equal to or greater than the required tuition fee amount.)

Visa-related notes
1. You can check your application status online after your submission of application.
2. E-versions of Admission Notice and Visa Application Form for Study in China (JW202/DQ Form) will be sent to successful applicants within one month after online application. Unsuccessful applicants will be notified by email.
3. To study in China, you need apply for a student visa (X) at a Chinese Embassy or Consulate with the Admission Notice and the JW202/DQ Form.
4. Successful applicants need to register at School of Humanities at Jiangnan University on the prescribed date with the documents including Admission Notice, JW202/DQ Form and Physical Examination Record for Foreigners (Please schedule the examination properly since the result is valid only for SIX months).
