The School of International Education (SIE) organized the Spring 2024 Chinese Language Student Orientation on March 20th to assist the Chinese language students of the semester in getting acquainted with campus life and understanding teaching and management regulations.
Zhang Li, an officer from the Exit and Entry Administration Unit of the Wuxi Public Security Bureau, was invited as a guest speaker for the orientation.
During the orientation, Officer Zhang Li provided informative sessions on visa requirements for international students, regulations pertaining to the management of international students in China, and prevention of telecommunication frauds. Through engaging and real-life cases, she delivered an informative lecture, reminding students to abide by the laws and regulations during their stay in China. The officer patiently responded to students’ inquiries and engaged in on-site discussions regarding the topics of their concerns.
During the previous orientation sessions, Ms. Hu Yuanyuan, Director of the International Chinese Language Education Center, explained the teaching content, course arrangements, and the selection process for the “Chinese Language Star” Award for the Spring 2024 Chinese language classes. Ms. Lu Xiaofei from the International Teaching Supporting Center encouraged students to attend all courses outlined in the study plan, proactively anticipate potential challenges that may arise during their studies, and maximize every opportunity to learn Chinese language, apply it in practical context, and immerse themselves in the culture. Mr. Zhang Yaoyao, Counselor for International Undergraduate Students, explained the “Regulations for the Management of Chinese Language Training Students at the School of International Education, Jiangnan University (Trial Version),” highlighting the importance of complying with regulations for international students in China and providing guidance on living in China. Mr. Zhang hopes that everyone will learn the Chinese language, immerse themselves in Chinese culture, and gain an understanding of Chinese civilization at Jiangnan University.
The Chinese Language Student Orientation provided valuable insights, enhanced students’ legal awareness, and facilitated their integration into a cross-cultural environment. It will contribute to closer humanistic exchanges among nations.
