On the afternoon of April 3rd, the 7th session of the Face-to-Face with the Dean and the Faculty-Student Meeting was successfully held in the conference room of the International Students’ Apartment. Gong Xiaobin, Dean of the School of International Education, Sheng Lina, Headteacher of the International Student Class at the School of Food Science and Technology, heads of various departments, and student representatives gathered for discussions and exchanges.
Prior to the meeting, the International Student Affairs Center gathered questions from students and organized them into categories. Department heads addressed various topics including graduation requirement for Chinese language proficiency, Chinese language learning guidance, establishment of student organizations, and plans for activities that deepen understanding of China. These responses were provided directly to students, facilitating face-to-face communication. Dean Gong Xiaobin addressed inquiries concerning the support system for students’ self-development, expressing the school’s commitment to roll out policies that will encourage and support students’ growth. Additionally, Sheng Lina, the headteacher of the International Student Class, provided valuable advice on students’ research progress and career plan. In-depth discussions and exchanges were also conducted on topics such as internship, inclusivity among Chinese and foreign teachers and students, and student evaluation systems.
The event was well prepared, with in-depth discussions and a relaxed and pleasant atmosphere. It has bridged the gap between faculty and students and fostered mutual understanding. The School of International Education organizes regular faculty-student exchange activities, creating a platform to communicate and address students’ pressing concerns more efficiently. These efforts aim to improve the quality of management and services for international students studying in China.
