The international education at Jiangnan University began in 1964. As one of the first universities in China to expand its enrollment of international students, Jiangnan University is also one of the earliest universities to accept the students of Chinese government scholarship. The alumni work is fruitful after decades of education and training.
Aboubacar Oumar Bangoura, Guinean, Chinese government scholarship student, studied for master's degree in food Science in Jiangnan University from 1996 to 2000, and for doctor's degree from 2001 to 2005. He was awarded "Outstanding Foreign Student" in school. In 2016, he was selected into marquis Who's Who; in 2018, he was awarded the honorary title of "The Most Outstanding Scientist in the World" (the first person from Guinea) by Cambridge Research Center. Elected Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research of the Republic of Guinea in 2020.
Pei Dehai, Vietnamese, he was the first international student in Wuxi Institute of Light Industry from 1964 to 1965. Since 1959, he has been teaching in Hanoi Paeke University, Vietnam, where he served as dean of school of Food Engineering and published food Processing Technology and other books. He was awarded the national Second-class Labor Medal of Vietnam and the title of "Excellent People's Teacher".
ABDEL MUTALED MOHAMED KHATIR, Sudanese, he studied for doctoral degree in Food Engineering in Wuxi Institute of Light Industry from 1995 to 1999, and was the first international student for doctoral degree in our university. After graduation, he returned to China and engaged in scientific research and education in universities. He has long been committed to food related research to solve the famine problem in Africa and once served as a researcher of African relief organizations. From 1992 to 2015, he taught at Zalingei University, Sudan, where he served as dean of the School of Education and chairman of the Education Committee. Currently, he is working at the College of Food Science and Technology, Omdurman Islamic University, Sudan.
MICHELBONOTOLNO, Guinean, The Republic of Guineahe studied for bachelor's degree and master's degree in food Engineering in Wuxi Institute of Light Industry from 1977 to 1981 and 1987 to 1990. Since 1992, he has been teaching at the University of Conakry, Guinea. He has served as the director of the Department of Food, the Director of the Department of Chemical Engineering, the president of The Association of Chinese Students studying in Guinea, and the head of the West African Chemistry Seminar in Guinea. Currently, he is the Deputy Dean of the Institute of Technology of the University of Conakry and the Director of Confucius Institutes in Guinea.
BENUP ADHIKARI, Nepalese, he studied for bachelor's degree in Food Engineering department of Wuxi Institute of Light Industry from 1987 to 1991. Later, he obtained master's degree and doctor's degree in Asia Institute of Technology in Thailand and University of Queensland in Australia. He is currently a professor at RMIT University in Australia. He has been awarded as international High-level Expert of The State Council of China (Jiangnan University), Distinguished Professor of The Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences, Distinguished International Friend of the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences, Visiting Scientist of the Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation of Australia, etc.
From Burundi, he studied for bachelor's degree and master's degree in food Science and Engineering and environmental Engineering in Wuxi University of Light Industry from 1995 to 1999and 1999 to 2002. Now he is the General manager of RBI China.
From America, there are five Americans, including Kay, Melissa and their children, who have studied for degrees or Chinese in Jiangnan University successively. Currently, their sons Ya Ge and Jia Le are studying for master's and bachelor's degrees in School of Digital Media and School of Food Science in Jiangnan University. Family Swing has forged a close relationship with Jiangnan University.
