The inaugural session of the “Academic Discourse” International Student Lecture Series was held on the morning of April 24th in the Yuandong Auditorium. Zhong Fang, professor and doctoral supervisor from the Future Food Science Center of Jiangnan University, was invited as the keynote speaker. Over a hundred international students attended the lecture.
Professor Zhong Fang, drawing on years of experience in guiding graduate students, provided an easily understandable introduction to international students on how to explore research interests, identify research hotspots, and emphasized key points in writing high-quality research papers. Professor Zhong began by discussing the process of paper topic selection, providing a thorough analysis of the requirements and challenges involved. Using specific examples, she illustrated effective strategies for finding innovative research directions. Professor Zhong expounded on the entire process of an excellent research paper, from its initial stages to its completion, emphasizing the significance of the academic value of a research paper.
The “Academic Discourse” International Student Lecture Series is part of a series of activities organized by the School of International Education (SIE) to improve the educational experience for international students in China. It serves as a platform for international students studying at the university to engage in academic research discussions and exchanges with their mentors. The focus is on helping students adopt effective academic methods, fostering academic engagement, expanding academic horizons, and enhancing research and innovation capabilities. These efforts aim to create a dynamic international research and academic atmosphere at Jiangnan University.
