Article 1  Topromote international exchange and cooperation and ensure the quality of bachelor’s degree granted by our university to international students, these regulations are formulated according to the actual situation of the university and the spirit of existing documents including “Interim Measuresforthe conferment of Degrees to International Students in China by Higher Educational Institutions” (Degree [1991] No. 17) of the State Council Academic Degrees Committee,“Regulations on the Recruitment and Cultivation of International Students” (Order No. 42 of the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Public Security), “Regulations on the Conferment of Bachelor’s Degree to Full-time Undergraduates at Jiangnan University (Revised 2017)”, “Regulations on the International Student Status at Jiangnan University”, and so on.

Article 2  The bachelor’s degree shall be conferred by disciplines in which academic degrees may be conferred.

Article 3  The conferment of bachelor’s degree to international students shall observe relevant provisions of the“Regulations on Academic Degrees of the People’s Republic of China” and the “Interim Measures for the Implementation of the Regulations on Academic Degrees of the People’s Republic of China”, both of which require international students to abide by Chinese laws and regulations, respect Chinese customs and traditions, follow the current Chinese degree system and the rules and regulations of the university, and adopt a friendly attitude towards China both politically and ideologically. At the same time, the university shall be practical and realistic by considering the actual situation of various countries while ensuring the quality of degree conferred

Article 4  According to the relevant state documents and the actual situation of international students in our university, international students seeking bachelor’s degree may be exempted from some courses, which are detailed in the attachments.Chinese LanguageandOverview of Chinaare compulsory courses for international students.

Article 5  International students may take the national and provincial computer grade examinations, College English Test-Band 4 and Band 6 and other tests on a voluntary basis.

Article 6  The requirements and procedure of bachelor’s degree conferment to international students, the circumstances of non-conferment, the revocation of the degree and the application for the certificate of bachelor’s degree shall be implemented with reference to the relevant implementation regulations for the conferment of bachelor’s degrees to domestic undergraduates.

Article 7  In principle, only the Chinese certificate shall be provided to international students. Students may, if necessary, have the certificates translated and notarized at designated institutions.

Article 8  These regulations shall be implementedas of the date of promulgationand the Academic Affairs Office and the School of International Education reserve the right of interpretation. The “Interim Measures for the Conferment of Bachelor’s Degrees to International Students at Jiangnan University (President Office of Jiangnan University[2010] No. 6)” shall be repealed simultaneously.
