1. General Principle
1.1 This scheme is designed to standardize the management of scholarships for international students and produce their desired results.
1.2 Targeted Students: Self-sponsored PhD Students, Postgraduates and Undergraduates Enrolled at Jiangnan University for a Full Academic Year or Longer
2. Scholarship Levels and Amounts
2.1 First Prize:RMB 12,000
2.2 Second Prize:RMB 8,000
2.3 Third Prize:RMB 5,000
3. Qualification Requirements
3.1 Being a student in compliance with Chinese laws and University regulations
3.2 Being a team player active in participation of social welfare events
3.3 Being a motivated student with top-of-class academic performance and no course failures within the recent academic year
3.4 Academic performance on average is used a reference, duly considered in the scholarship audit based on the characteristics of each academic program
PhD Students:
1. A minimum of 90 in annual average score is needed for the third prize scholarship;
2. Two high-quality academic papers published on domestic or international core journals or one academic paper indexed by one of the three major indexes is needed for the second prize scholarship.
3. Two academic papers indexed by one of the three major indexes or a dissertation rated excellent in blind peer review is needed for the first prize scholarship.
Postgraduates:
1. A minimum of 90 in annual average score is needed for the third prize scholarship;
2. Two academic papers of moderate quality published on domestic or international core journals or one academic paper indexed by one of the three major indexes is needed for the second prize scholarship;
3. Two academic papers indexed by one of the three major indexes or a dissertation rated excellent in blind peer review is needed for the first prize scholarship.
Undergraduates:
1. A minimum of 80 in annual average score is needed for the third prize scholarship;
2. A minimum of 85 in annual average score is needed for the second prize scholarship;
3. A minimum of 90 in annual average score is needed for the first prize scholarship;
4. Application Procedure
4.1 International students could contact the Student Affair Center of School of International Education for the application form for Jiangnan University President Scholarship (hereafter referred to as the application form) or download the application form from the website of School of International Education and fill it out faithfully.
4.2 Applicants have the application form properly filled with comment and signed by their school or supervisor and then submit it to the Student Affair Center of School of International Education.
4.3 Annual Application Deadline: Oct. 10 – Oct 15
5. Scholarship Evaluation
5.1 School of International Education audits the application forms and their supporting documents and come up with a tentative list of nominees for the scholarship based on the related audit criteria.
5.2 The international student scholarship evaluation committee finalizes through deliberation a list of nominees and submits it to the university leader in charge for approval.
5.3 Annual Audit Dates: Oct. 16 – Oct. 25
5.4 Audit Result Publication: The audit result is posted on the bulletin board of School of International Education while scholarship winners are notified and then recognized at a public assembly.
6. Scholarship Payment
6.1 School of International Education awards the scholarship to its winners who are paid monthly on a regular basis starting from the date of approval.
6.2 Scholarship payment lasts until half a month after graduation.
6.3 Scholarship payment stops starting from the following month after school suspension, withdrawal or completion of study.
6.4 Scholarship payment is continued as usual during the holidays prescribed in the university calendar.
6.5 Scholarship payment is cancelled for the month with such cases as late registration without prior approval, departure from university for non-health reasons or absence from class for more than 10 days.
6.6 Scholarship winners compelled to suspend their schooling due to serious illness shall return to their home country for medical treatment and cover the related travel expenses. With an approval for the school suspension from the Student Affair Center of School of International Education, they could maintain their scholarship qualification for up to one year. They don’t enjoy the scholarship payment during the school suspension. Scholarship payment is cancelled in other cases of school suspension.
6.7 Scholarship disqualification results from academic probation or harsher punishments from violation of university regulations. Scholarship is cancelled starting from the date of official notice on the disqualification.
7. International Student Scholarship Evaluation Committee
7.1 School of International Education is responsible for the establishment of the international student scholarship evaluation committee, whose membership includes: Associate Dean of School of International Education in charge of international student affair center, experts, supervisors and executives.
7.2 The Responsibilities of the Scholarship Evaluation Committee
7.2.1 Finalize through evaluation a list of scholarship nominees
7.2.2 Handle disputes related to scholarship evaluation; organize reviews for complaints
7.2.3 Interpretation and revision of the scholarship management scheme
7.2.4 The daily operation of the international student scholarship evaluation committee is undertaken by the Student Affair Center of School of International Education
8. Scholarship Quota
8.1 First prize winners of each category shall account for no more than 4% of all the international students in the category.
8.2 Second prize winners of each category shall account for no more than 10% of all the international students in the category.
8.3 Third prize winners of each category shall account for 15%- 20% of all the international students in the category.
9. School of International Education reserves all the rights for the final interpretation of the scheme.
